Heparinoids are combined with drugs which act like heparin, but has a different molecular structure. They are anticoagulants, so anticoagulant agents from the group of glycosaminoglycans. Their use can be alternatively if an allergy or intolerance to heparin is present or when renal failure and thrombocytopenia. Otherwise, they are no longer used because of the lower therapeutic range. Heparinoids are in the anatomical therapeutic chemical classification system under B01AB Antithrombotic agents, heparin group and heparin or heparinoids for topical C05BA use classified.
