Hepatic lipase

Hepatic triglyceride lipase ( HTGL, LIPC ) is a human enzyme which is localized to the capillaries of the liver. The HTGL is counted among the lipolytic ( fat-degrading ) enzymes. More specifically, it is based fats such as triglycerides, are transported in lipoproteins in the blood, as well as the lipoprotein HDL2 by the biochemical mechanisms of hydrolysis from. The removal of triglycerides fatty acids are released that uses the body as an energy source. Mutations in the HTGL gene can lead to a rare hereditary deficiency disease.

After administration of anticoagulant heparins (these are used, among other things, for the prevention and treatment of thrombosis) the HTGL appear in the circulating blood. Other lipolytic enzymes are, for example, lipoprotein lipase and lecithin: cholesterol acyltransferase ( LCAT ).
