Hermann Kemper

Hermann Kemper ( born April 5, 1892 in Nortrup in the district of Osnabrück, † July 13, 1977 ) was a German engineer and inventor of maglev.

He succeeded in 1933 to construct a working circuit for hovering on the principle of electromagnetic attraction that was adjustable. The engineering graduate from Nortrup was then in 1934 at the Reich Patent Office under the number 643 316 the invention of a monorail with wheel-less vehicles that will be performed on iron rails by means of magnetic fields floating along Register ( maglev ). These were basic invention services, which ultimately led to the development of the Transrapid.

Honors

In 1972 he was awarded as recognition of his research achievements, the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
