Hermann Otto I of Limburg-Styrum

Hermann Otto I of Limburg- Styrum ( born September 3, 1592 Castle Styrum, † October 17, 1644 in Bergen op Zoom ) was by descent Count of Limburg, by Heritage Count of Bronckhorst and Borculo to Mr, Gemen, Lichtenvoorde and Styrum. From 1640 to 1644 he was steward of the monastery Vreden.

Life

Hermann Otto I of Limburg- Styrum was the eldest son of Count Jobst of Limburg- Styrum and Countess Maria von Schauenburg and Holstein - Pinneberg (1559-1616), daughter of Otto IV of Holstein- Schaumburg.

He fought on the side of the States General in 1623 and lived on the side of the great Christian of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel the defeat at the Battle of the city wage. In October 1628 he came with his troops in the Office Angermund around the city of Ratingen to raid and plunder.

Buried he is in the church at Borculo. His son, Count Adolf Ernst tried with the help of the Elector of Brandenburg unsuccessfully to enforce against the Diocese of Münster and bring back his subjects to the Catholic faith.

After the death of Count Hermann Otto in 1644, it came to the division of an estate between his three sons: Bronckhorst and Borculo was Count Otto, Gemen was Count Adolf Ernst and Styrum was Count Moritz.

He married on March 22, 1618 Anna Magdalena, Baroness of Spies Büllesheim to Frechen (* 1595 Frechen, † May 16, 1659 Bergen op Zoom ).
