Hessel
The Hessel is a 40 km long right tributary of the Ems in the fields of North Rhine-Westphalia circles Gütersloh and Warendorf.
The river rises northwest of Halle (Westfalen ) at the Great Egge, crosses the Hermannsweg, flows through the Haller districts Hesseln and Hörste, then to the metropolitan area of Versmold by Oesterweg, through the town Sass mountain and on the southern edge of the Warendorf hamlet Milte before it flows into the Ems near Warendorf - One.
In the vicinity of Sass Berg at the Hessel chess flower meadows, one of the few places in Germany where still occurs strictly protected Schachblume.
