Heuweiler

Heuweiler is a municipality of the district of Breisgau in the Black Forest in the south of Baden- Württemberg in Freiburg im Breisgau.

The town has retained much of its original rural character. While many communities have grown rapidly in recent decades in the area of Freiburg, took place in Heuweiler a slow, organic change.

Geography

Heuweiler located at the junction of Glottertal in the Rhine valley. The municipality consists of the village Vorderheuweiler, the hamlet Hinterheuweiler, the tines Neuhäuser and Inns Mountain Häusle and Litzelstahlerhof.

In the West Gundelfingen borders Heuweiler, in the east the municipality Glottertal, both in the district of Breisgau in the Black Forest; the northern neighboring community Denzlingen located in the district of Emmen things.

History

Since the dawn of the history of the village was connected to the City of Freiburg. For instance, the farmers of Heuweiler had to do tensioning services for the transport of Tennenbacher sandstone for building the Freiburg Minster. When Freiburg became Habsburg, the rule was transferred to Austria. Heuweiler became the bailiwick of Kameralschaft Kastelburg -Schwarzenberg. To this day, remember old landmarks of the district boundaries at this time.

Religions

The parish church was first mentioned in documents in 1275. It is dedicated to Saint Remigius. Heuweiler remained until very recently, a predominantly Catholic village. Only since the influx in recent decades can be found with other denominations in the village and inhabitants.

Coat of arms

The town coat of arms shows a crossed with rake pitchfork. Nevertheless, the local name has nothing to do with hay, but is the scriptural German form of the old name Hain Willer, ie " hamlet in the grove " or " Hau " ( whipped Forest)

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

Heuweiler was originally predominantly agricultural. Today there are only a few full-time farms and a small number of independent craft shops. Tourism and hospitality could, however, develop well. Much of the population commutes but to Freiburg or one of the surrounding communities to work.

Train

A primary school is available, but students Heuweilers go to elementary school to Gundelfingen, since the primary school is very small.
