Style

With only five songs, but the total come back to a playing time of over 40 minutes, Hexenwind represents the album with the fewest songs

Musically, the work differs significantly from its predecessors, as the entire musical conception is kept extremely quiet and the black metal influences are now completely disappeared, which is also indicated by the fact that the guitars are now undistorted for the most part. In addition, Jochen floor almost completely omitted now on the aggressive voice ( with the exception of a few faint screaming in the background during the second title), and the Flüstergesang used. Thomas Stock sings, like on the previous releases, of course.

Criticism

Even before the release it was clear that the album under the weight of the much acclaimed predecessor Her hand will stand by wither nights and came to the fans therefore very different due to the strong musical changes from previous releases to. Many fans who had expected a continuation of the development on the previous album, saw the album as a bitter disappointment. Jochen Stock therefore said in an interview to the critical voices that Hexenwind considered as atypical for Dornenreich, as follows:

" Personally, I am of the opinion that people who were able to internalize Dornenreich beings for themselves, " " recognize as total Dornenreich album and never ever a " Hexenwind have expected from withering nights 2 "or even willed forth. Dornenreich albums act for me in their intensity as a completely autonomous beings, they have soul and are only the flow of all being committed, which excludes a repeat. "
