The Highlands County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sebring.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​2,865 square kilometers, of which 202 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Okeechobee County, Glades County, Charlotte County, DeSoto County, Hardee County and Polk County.

History

The Highlands County was formed on April 23, 1921 from portions of DeSoto County and named for the slightly elevated position. This County is a popular tourist area today.
