Hjortø ( German also Hjortö ) is a Danish island in the "Danish Southern Seas " south of Fyn ( Funen German ). The island is part of the parish community (Danish: Sogn ) ( Drejø Sogn, which until 1970 Harde Sund Herred in Svendborg Office ) was one, then the "old" Svendborg Kommune in the County of Funen, and since the municipal reform of 1 January 2007 it belongs the "new " Svendborg municipality in the region Syddanmark. There are 8 inhabitants (1 January 2013) on the island, which also has a small marina. This has Hjortø, which also belongs to the Association of Danish small islands, replaced with a size of 90 hectares in 2010 Birkholm as the smallest inhabited island in Denmark.

There is a ferry there to Svendborg on Funen. The passenger ferry service once or twice a day and carries up to twelve people. The trip takes one hour.
