Holste is a municipality of the velvet municipality Hambergen and is located on the northern edge of the district Easter wood in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical Location

The municipality is located north of Holste Bremen in the North German Plain.

Community structure

The four quarters are:

  • Hellingst
  • Oldendorf
  • Paddewisch
  • Steden

The name Holste is derived from the initials of the boroughs Hellingst, Oldendorf and Steden.

History

Waldheim Oldendorf

In Oldendorf there was a refugee camp, where 200 refugees from the former eastern territories were brought by the Easter Holzer District Office in 1945. The camp was evacuated in 1968. Today, there is no visible trace of it more.

The quarters were built in 1938 by the Reich Labor Service, and served until the war ended as Maiden camp. " It was not a miserable squalid camps ," says Siegfried Begatik, who has been researching the " home of the community of fate".

Modern History

Holste formed in the course of municipal reform in 1974 with the communities Hambergen Axstedt, Lübberstedt and Vollersode the Municipality Hambergen.

Incorporations

In Hellingst there is the weekend course Stedener forest, where you can swim on beautiful days. Every summer, there is also the so-called beach party. The Weekend area is also known nationwide.

Traffic

Moderate traffic connection exists to the train Bremen - Bremerhaven - Cuxhaven (stations Oldenbüttel and Lübberstedt ) and to the highway 27 ( Walsrode - Cuxhaven ). The major route is State Road 74 Bremen - Stade.

Established businesses

In Oldendorf a biodynamic vegetable gardening is operated since 1983. The only since January 2012 tenants living here want to restructure the now existing economy ( direct marketing to markets, box schemes ) in a Solidary agriculture.
