History
Hot Cross is in the winter of 2000 Greg Drudy ( Saetia, Interpol ), Matt Smith (Off Minor), Casey Boland ( You and I) and Josh Jakubowski ( Neil Perry, The Now and Joshua Fit For Battle) founded as a pet project. After a few live performances they send a rehearsal room recording at Billy Werner, the former vocalist of Greg Drudys former band Saetia. This is excited to break his studies in England and enters the band.
The debut EP A New Set of Lungs released in March 2001. 7 songs are written within 3 months and recorded on a weekend. The sound sounds very impetuous and immature, yet the EP sold out within weeks. In 2002 the band toured Europe and Japan. In March 2003, appears the first LP Cryonics. The band is dissatisfied with the songs and plays the song Dissertation: 14 one time live. Before the next shots it comes to internal changes at the instruments and Matt Smith (formerly guitar) and Josh Jakubowski (previously Bass ) Switch their respective instrument as both were not playing the instrument, what they learned originally. Fair Trades & Farewells released in May 2005. On the subsequent tour Hot Cross playing nearly 200 concerts and then begin to write new songs. After 6 songs were written leaves Josh Jakubowski the band, forcing the remaining members of two to reduce the songs on a guitar because they wanted no new guitarist in the band. After the beginning of 2006 all the songs were finished, hot cross went in the summer of 2006 into the studio to record the plate. After 9 days in the studio, the four band members were extremely dissatisfied with the recordings, and called on Jakubowski, who now worked as a sound engineer. This helped the band during recording of the songs, but did not get back into the band.
Her style is heavily influenced by Drive Like Jehu, marked by complex guitar playing and dueling guitars.
