House of Representatives (Thailand)

The Thai House of Representatives (Thai: สภา ผู้แทนราษฎร ไทย, RTGS: Sapha Phu Thaen Ratsadon Thai ) is the lower house of the Thai National Assembly and, together with the Senate of Thailand the bicameral system of the country.

General

The House of Commons has 500 members, of whom 375 are elected and 125 are appointed. The term of office is 4 years.

The Speaker of the House is Somsak Kiatsuranont, his first deputy is Charoen Chankomon and the second deputy is Visuth Chainaroon

History

The House of Representatives was set up by the Siamese Revolution of 1932.

7 April 2010 invaded activists of the National United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (short UDD German about: United National Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, popularly known as " Red Shirts ") in the wake of the unrest in Bangkok in the Parlamentsgebäuide and forced the Cabinet - and members of parliament to escape. In direct response, the government established the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation ( CRES ) with a comprehensive mandate to restore order in the country and called the day after the state of emergency.

Elections are held every 4 years. The last election was held on 3 July 2011. See also parliamentary elections in Thailand 2011. Four weeks later, on August 2, 2011, was determined Somsak Kiatsuranont as the new President of the House of Representatives.
