Houtermans (crater)

Houtermans is an impact crater on the eastern limb of the Moon front, south of Mare Smythii, southeast of the crater Kiess and south of Kao. The crater consists of two heavily eroded, largely overlapping part craters.

The crater was formed in 1973 by the IAU after the German physicist Georg Friedrich Houtermans ( 1903-1966 ) officially named.
