Hradec Králové District
Okres Hradec Králové ( German district of Hradec Králové ) is a Czech Region District in the Hradec Králové.
Okres Hradec Králové East Bohemia is in the middle. To the north it has borders with Okres Jičín, Trutnov and Náchod, in the east with Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou, in the south with Okres Pardubice ( Pardubice region ) and in the west with the Central Bohemian region and its districts fulltext your real estates and Okres Kolin. The area is approximately 892 km ² and it is thus the third smallest district in the region, according to the population, however, the largest district with 160,000 inhabitants ( 29.2 % of the population of the region). The population density is 180 inhabitants / km ². The district consists of gently rolling hills with about 132-334 m above sea level. M. The climate is pleasant, the warmer and drier south, the north slightly damp.
Water
The main rivers are the Upper Elbe River with its tributaries the Orlice Cidlina and Trotina. For irrigation are also important Mlýnský, Lužický and Piletický Bach. The water surface occupies about 2 % of the total.
Ground
71.2 % of the land is used for agriculture, 16 % are mostly forested with deciduous trees (lowest forest area in the district ).
Industry
It is an industrial region with intensive agricultural use. Industry is mainly located in the district town and country parts Novobydžovsko, Chlumecko a Třebechovicko. Focuses on mechanical engineering and metal processing. In these industries, about a quarter of the employees work.
Agriculture
Important industry is agriculture. 2/3 of the companies are now privatized, a quarter is operated as a cooperative. 739 companies cultivate 58,000 hectares of floor area. Focuses on plants and crops. In the livestock dominates the pigs.
Economy
The district is located about a third of all companies of the circle. The end of 2001 there were 21,000. For the most part it is traders ( 69.3 % ), followed by limited liability companies ( 9.2%). 14 % of companies are industrial companies, construction companies and about a tenth of 5.5% farms.
About a quarter of the workforce is employed in industry, 13% in trade, about one-third in the construction industry and 5% in agriculture. About one-fifth is employed in public administration.
Population
The district recorded a high concentration of population in cities with more than 5,000 inhabitants. In four cities to live 72 % of the population.
History
The historical tradition, is quite strongly influenced by the royal city of Hradec Králové, which was first mentioned in 1073. So you will find many cultural and historical monuments, which include, inter alia:
- Center of Hradec Králové with the Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, the White Tower, the Chapel of St. Clement, the baroque town hall and a variety of historic buildings.
- The Gothic castle Hradek u Nechanic,
- The baroque castle Karlova Koruna in Chlumec nad Cidlinou
- Newly restored chapel appearance of the Virgin Mary in Smiřice
On 1 January 2007 the municipalities Jílovice, Ledce and Vysoký Újezd were added from the Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
