The HTC Hero, also marketed as T -Mobile G2 Touch is after the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic, the third series device from the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC with the Android operating system in version 2.1 ( Eclair). When G2 Touch T-Mobile the update was to Android 2.1 in August 2010.

New Releases

The Hero and the about the same time put on the market, Samsung Galaxy I7500, the phase in which Android smartphones via certain mobile telephone operators were only available exclusively ended. The HTC Hero is the first smartphone that is equipped with the new HTC Sense user interface. This is an evolution of TouchFLO interface that uses HTC on devices with the Windows Mobile operating system. With the new interface is the operating system twice as much memory as with the standard user interface of Android. The HTC Hero but does not have GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA, HSCSD. Connections to the Internet are also possible via Wi-Fi and EDGE.

Support from external projects

The HTC Hero is further supported by projects which are based on the AOSP ( Android Open Source Project). Versions of the operating system Android are currently in versions 2.2 ( Froyo), 2.3 (Gingerbread) and 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is available. In many communities like xda - developers.com ROM's are developed independently by the manufacturer for the HTC Hero.

  • Overclock the processor possible
  • Large APN list
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB tethering

Also, an updated kernel based on the Linux kernel version 2.6.35 is in development.
