Huachipato

Club Deportivo Huachipato is a Chilean football club based in Talcahuano. The club was founded in 1947 and plays its home games at the Estadio CAP from, which seats 10,500 spectators. Huachipato that Chilean football champion twice, currently plays in La Liga, the top division in Chile.

History

The club Club Deportivo Huachipato was founded on June 7 of 1947. A little later, the new club was from his first game. His followers took Club Deportivo first among the employees of the local steel industry company. The club colors of the club were set to blue and black. As the stadium club first served a sports field in Talcahuano, the hometown of CD Huachipato. In 1960 the club then built the Estadio Las Higueras, which the club for 48 years served as the home before it was demolished in 2008 and was replaced by the Estadio CAP.

CD Huachipato began his footballing activities initially in the lower Chilean leagues. Beginning of the sixties, the club became known to a wider audience than you first climb into higher leagues. After Huachipato 1965 his first season in the Segunda División, the second football league in Chile, played and there established, succeeded two years later, the initial jump in the Primera División. Instead, the club won the Torneo Apertura twice Segunda Division, the national cup competition in Chile for the teams of the second division in 1979 and 1983. Currently plays CD Huachipato in the first Chilean league where they finished sixth in the past season.

In the 2012 season, the team at CD Huachipato managed a big surprise. According to a sixth place in the Torneo Clausura 2012 they defeated in the playoff games in succession CD Palestino, the Rangers de Talca, and in the final Unión Española and won first time since 1974, the Chilean soccer championship. The victory against Unión Española came on penalties of the second leg after both outward and return leg had gone with a 3-1 success for the respective home team to the end.
