Hubová

Hubová ( until 1948 slovak " Gombás "; Hungarian Gombás ) is a municipality in the northern central Slovakia Slovakia with 1069 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Ružomberok, a circle of Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the narrow valley of the Waag between the Great Fatra in the south and the hill country Orava highlands in the north. The center is located at an altitude of 449 m nm and is 10 kilometers west of Ruzomberok ( road distance ).

History

Hubová was first mentioned in writing in 1425 and belonged to the manor of Castle Likava. In 1948, the Hungarian word Gombak ( = "mushroom" ) borrowed place name of national political reasons in the Slovak equivalent Hubová ( Huby = "mushroom" ) has been renamed.

1951 split-off from the place Ľubochňa after he was in 1882 affiliated to the community.
