Huixtán is a municipality in the center of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The name of the village comes from Nahuatl and means " place that is full of spiders ."

The municipality has about 21,500 inhabitants and an area of 311.8 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Huixtán.

The municipality borders the Municipalities Huixtán Tenejapa, Oxchuc, Chanal, San Cristobal de las Casas and Teopisca.
