History

Precursor of the Hungarian Grand Prix was the Hungarian TT, which was held from 1924 to 1931. The Grand Prix was first held in 1929. It was organized by the Budapest Sports Association and discharged on a 2.75 km long stretch in the Budapest City Forest ( City Park ) on 14 July 1929. After the 1932er host the races were banned in the city forest, so that the next Grand Prix in 1937, on a 5.275 km long track was held in Sopron on the Austrian border and with the participation of internationally successful factory teams of the German manufacturers BMW and DKW.

The first Grand Prix after the Second World War took place in Budaörs, a district of Budapest on May 9, 1948. Other events were held in May 1950 and August 1955. From 1957 to 1962 found the Hungarian Grand Prix again held in Budapest 's city forest. 1963 and 1964 he was also, in another place, performed.

1990 and 1992 which was organized again the Hungarian Grand Prix and belonged to the motorcycle world championship. The event took place at the Hungaroring Mogyoród, north-east of Budapest, on the since 1986, the Formula 1 guest appearances.

Initially, the Hungarian Grand Prix from the 2009 season should again belong to the Motorcycle World Championship calendar and will be held on September 20, 2009 at the newly constructed for Balaton ring. The race was canceled because of financial difficulties in March 2009, but was back for the 2010 season on the racing calendar and should take place on 19 September 2010. The Grand Prix was canceled again due to delays in the construction of Lake Balaton ring in March 2010. He was replaced by the Grand Prix of Aragon, which took place in Spain at Motorland Aragon.
