Ibn Qudamah

Muwaffaq ad - Dīn Abū Muhammad ʿ Abd ibn Ahmad ibn Qudama al - Maqdisi (Arabic موفق الدين عبد الله بن احمد ابن قدامة, DMG Muwaffaq ad - Dīn Abū Muḥhammad ʿ Abd ibn Aḥmad ibn Qudama al - Maqdisi; * 1147 Dschammā ʿ īl; † 7 July. 1223 in Damascus ) was a hanbalitischer Islamic scholar and traditionalist.

Ibn al - Maqdisi Qudama was born in a village near Jerusalem (Bait al - Maqdis ). He received his religious education in Damascus. Together with his cousin ʿ Abd al - Ghani al - Maqdisi, he visited Baghdad for study purposes. There he remained four years. For most of his life he spent in Damascus. He visited Baghdad several times, performed the pilgrimage and took part in the Jersulam campaign of Salah ad -Din.

Ibn Qudāmas most famous work is the commentary al - Mughni.
