Ibn Rajab

Ibn Rajab (Arabic ابن رجب, DMG Ibn Raǧab; Ibn Rajab; * 1335/36 in Baghdad, † July 14, 1393 in Damascus ) was an Islamic scholar.

Name

Life

Both the grandfather and the father of Ibn Rajab were imams. The family was wealthy and educated. After Ibn Rajab was trained for many years in Damascus, Jerusalem and Mecca, and thereby made ​​the law school of Ahmad ibn Hanbal for guidance, he taught at an Islamic madrassa. After he was removed from this teaching position, he taught at Damascus in the area of ​​prophetic traditions, which are called " hadith " in Arabic. His students included Ibn ar - Risaam, who later became Mufti of Egypt. His commentary on the fourth hadith, the traditions collection of an-Nawawi is today regarded as pioneering. He also published several studies explicated Islamic law, which is called " fiqh " in Arabic. A comment in seven volumes to Saheeh al -Bukhari, a collection of hadiths, he could not quite finish. Ibn Rajab died on the 4th of Ramadan 765 H ( July 14, 1393 ) in Damascus and was buried the next day in the cemetery Baab as- Sagheer.
