Ibrahim Mohammad Bahr al-Ulloum

Ibrahim Bahr al - Ulum (Arabic إبراهيم بحر العلوم, DMG Ibrahim Bahr al - Ulum ʿ; * 1954 ), a Shiite, was oil minister of Iraq.

Life

He is the son of the highly respected Shiite cleric Muhammad Bahr al - Ulum of Najaf. He received his doctorate as a petroleum engineer at the University of New Mexico and worked on oil projects in the UK, the U.S. and North Africa.

From September 2003 to June 2004 he was oil minister in the Iraqi Governing Council. In the new Iraqi government, he is in the cabinet of Prime Minister Ibrahim al - Jaafari also oil minister. Supposedly he has a good relationship with the U.S..

Shortly after his appointment, al - Ulum promised to focus his efforts on increasing oil production. He also wanted to make an effort to alleviate the fuel shortage in Iraq.
