Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics
The XXII. Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi were held two competitions in ice hockey. In the men's tournament came to twelve teams, the women's tournament was played with eight teams.
The participants of the preliminary groups arose from the prior IIHF World Ranking of 2012 and the results of the qualifying tournaments. The men's tournament began on the 12th, the women's tournament already on February 8, 2014, a day after the opening ceremony on February 7. Venues
The games of the men's and women's tournament was in the 7000 seater Shaiba - ice arena (Russian: Ледовая арена " Шайба ") discharged. The next highest scoring teams played three qualifying tournaments, in which Latvia, Austria and Slovenia qualified. In the women's teams of the United States, Canada, Finland, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden were directly qualified. Added to this were Germany and Japan, who qualified via the qualification tournaments.
