İhsan Sabri Çağlayangil

Ihsan Sabri ÇAGLAYANGÍL (* 1908 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire, † December 30, 1993 in Ankara, Turkey) was a Turkish bureaucrat, politician and three times Foreign Minister of Turkey.

ÇAGLAYANGÍL graduated from İstanbul Lisesi and 1932, the Faculty of Law at the Darülfünun. He has worked in various functions in the Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü. Ihsan Sabri ÇAGLAYANGÍL organized as a young official of the court proceedings for the defendants in the Dersim Rebellion 1937.

In 1945 he was District (tr: Kaymakam ) Ahlats. 1948 ÇAGLAYANGÍL Governor Yozgats, 1950 Antalya, Çanakkale 1953 and 1954 of Sivas. From 1954 to 1960 he was governor of Bursa. Ihsan Sabri ÇAGLAYANGÍL worked in the Democrat Parti. After the Committee of National Unity had a coup d'état on 27 May 1960 he was arrested and had a total of six months on the prison island Yassıada and Balmumcu prison spending. After six months ÇAGLAYANGÍL was released without ever being charged.

1961 ÇAGLAYANGÍL went active in politics. He was elected for the Adalet Partisi senator of Bursa Province. On February 20, 1965, he was appointed to the government Suat Hayri Ürgüplüs to the Minister of Labour. In the Demirel government established after the parliamentary elections of 1965 he became foreign minister.

On March 12, 1971, the Turkish Armed Forces wrote a memorandum. As a result, the government resigned and ÇAGLAYANGÍL lost his job. However, he remained in the Adalet Partisi and was still a senator. In founded by Süleyman Demirel 1975 I. Government of the Nationalist Front ( I. Milliyetçi Cephe hükümeti ) ÇAGLAYANGÍL was re-appointed foreign minister. In 1977 he was again as foreign minister in the government of the Nationalist Front II Demirel. He remained in this office until the government resigned in December 1977 due to a lost of confidence. In the midterm elections of November 1979 ÇAGLAYANGÍL was elected President of the Senate of the Republic.

He represented the President Fahri Korutürk, whose term had expired on April 6, 1980 until the military coup of 12 September 1980. After 1983, the reasons were allowed by political parties again, ÇAGLAYANGÍL engaged in founding the Büyük Türkiye Partisi. After the party was banned by a decision of the Millî Güvenlik Kurulu, ÇAGLAYANGÍL was interned along with some politicians of the Adalet Partisi and Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi of from 1 June 1983 to 30 September 1983 in Zincirbozan. Although the ban on political activities was lifted in a referendum on September 6, 1987, ÇAGLAYANGÍL was in November 1990 announced that he was withdrawing from politics.

He died on December 30, 1993 and was buried in the cemetery Zincirlikuyu in İstanbul Şişli district.
