IIHF European Cup 1996

The Hockey European Cup in the 1995 season was the 31st edition of the competition of the same name by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. The competition began in October 1995; the final was played in December 1995. A total of 31 teams took part. Jokerit Helsinki was able to defend the title.

Mode and participants

The country masters of the Year 1994/95 of the European members of the IIHF were qualified for the Cup. The competition was played with a preliminary round in four groups in simple mode. Subsequently, the group winners played with other skilled workers into four groups again the final round seats.

Quarterfinals

The preliminary round of the European Cup was played out in four groups from 6 to 8 October 1995. The group winners qualified for the semifinals.

Group A

The matches of Group A were held in Bulgaria in Sofia.

Group B

The matches of Group B took place in Hungary in Budapest.

Group C

The Group C matches were held in Herning, Denmark.

Group D

The Group D games were held in Tilburg in the Netherlands.

Semifinal

The semi-final was held from 10th to 12th November 1995.

Group E

The games in Group E were held in Norway in Hamar.

Group F

The games in Group F were held in Kloten in Switzerland and Feldkirch in Austria.

Group G

The matches of the group G took place in Italy in Bolzano.

Group H

The games in Group H were held in the Czech Republic in Vsetín.

Final tournament

The final tournament was held in Cologne from 26 to 30 December 1995.
