Football

In 1988 the football department qualified for participation in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The team won in seven group and had a first round winner of the Austrian SK Sturm Graz and the two Israeli teams Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv and Jerusalem behind. In six games, the team was only one point from the 1-1 draw against Sturm Graz. The highest victory earned the team a 6-0 home victory against Beitar. Thus, the club could be described as one of eleven teams as Intertoto Cup winners. Thus, the club was entitled to the UEFA Cup to start. However, after 0-1 and 2-1 against First Vienna FC 1894, the team retired on away goals in the first round of the competition. Also in 1991 Ikast played in the Intertoto Cup for a place in the UEFA Cup. This time, earned the team against SV Austria Salzburg, Halle shear FC and Váci Izzó MTE only one point. It ended the game against the Hallescher FC with a 2:5 defeat.

Until 1999 the club played a total of 17 seasons in the top division in Denmark. In the 1980s and in 1997 the Danish Cup final could be achieved, which went each lost to FC Copenhagen. 1999 saw the merger of the first team of Ikast FS and Herning Fremad a close, the geographical sense here, lying to club FC Midtjylland. The fusion of the stadium from Herning Fremad was chosen and therefore, there was to be founded in the same year, no successful football club in Ikast. Both Ikast FS and Herning Fremad persist and maintain their own youth teams. For a particularly practiced in Denmark concept was continued, which should enable smaller clubs, economically and sporty permanently to establish themselves in the top flight.

2007 succeeded in rising to the second division; a promotion to the first division is not possible, since the association is considered to be the second team FC Midtjylland.
