Ikusaka (Nagano)

Ikusaka ( Japanese:生 坂 村, -mura ) is a mountain village in Higashichikuma -gun in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

Ikusaka located in the canyon of Sai who is here dammed up by the Ikusaka Dam at a lake. The terrain is generally very mountainous. Adjacent municipalities are the cities ( shi) Azumino, Nagano and Ōmachi and to Hakuba -gun belonging town ( machi ) Ikeda and to Higashichikuma -gun belonging villages Chikuhoku and Omi.

History

On January 23, 1875 four settlements were combined. This new administrative unit was called Ikusaka first time. On April 1, 1889, obtained with the establishment of modern local system its present status as a village within the meaning of " administrative village". On March 31, 1957 Ikusaka were slammed some hitherto independent neighboring villages.

Traffic

By Ikusaka the national road 19 passes from Nagano to Nagoya. Public transport is served by buses. A connection to the railway network does not exist.

Educational institutions

In Ikusaka there is a primary school and a middle school.

Attractions

In Ikusaka there are several country parks. This includes a section of the Hijiriyama - Kōgen Nature Park ( Hijiriyama Kōgen kenritsu shizen kōen ) and the Takatsuya Forest Park ( Takatsuya Shinrin kōen )
