Ilan Volkov

Ilan Volkov (Hebrew אילן וולקוב; born September 8, 1976 in Tel Aviv, Israel) is an Israeli conductor.

Life and education

The son of concert pianist Alexander Volkov and the historian Shulamit Volkov has already received as a child violin training and then studied violin with Chaim Taub, director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, piano with his father and composition with Abel Ehrlich. From 1991 to 1993 he studied at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem conducting with Mendi Rodan and then attended the Royal Academy of Music in London. Ilan Volkov is married to Israeli pianist, singer and composer Maya Dunietz.

Career

In 1995 he was Young Conductor in Association to the Northern Sinfonia, 1997 Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. 1999 appointed him to be his assistant Seiji Ozawa at the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
