IMRO – Bulgarian National Movement

The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Bulgarian National Movement ( Bulgarian ВМРО - Българско национално движение (short ВМРО - БНД ) / Vatreschna makedonska revoljuzionna organizacija - Balgarsko nazionalno dwischenie, short VMRO- BND ) is a Christian democratic and right - conservative political party in Bulgaria. It sees itself as a successor organization to the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization ( IMRO, VMRO respectively ) and refugee associations of Bulgarians from Macedonia ( макдонски българи, German Macedonian Bulgarians ). Its chairman is Krassimir Karakachanov. The party is the newspaper Makedonija ( Bulg " Македония " = Macedonia) and the youth organization of the magazine NIE ( Bulg " НИЕ " = We ) out.

History

As a result of political changes and opening of the Iron Curtain, which took place in Osteruropa and Bulgaria in 1989, which during the communist rule to pressure Yugoslavia banned Federation of Macedonian cultural associations was ( Bulg Съюза на македонските културно - просветни дружества ), short BMK, back to life recalled. In the following period emerged throughout Bulgaria Macedonian culture houses or clubs. The departure culminated in December 1990, when the formation of a political party, it was decided at the first Congress of the BMK. The political organization should build on the tradition and the ideas of the VMRO as the communist rule. The party's name was VMRO - Association of Macedonian clubs ( Bulg ВМРО - Съюз на македонските дружества ). 1997 during the fourth Congress of additional collar of Macedonian clubs from the party name was deleted.

At the parliamentary elections of 2005, the VMRO- BND took in the electoral alliance Balgarski Naroden Sajuz (short BNS ) part, which could reach 5.2% of the votes, or 13 seats in the Bulgarian Parliament. The local elections in 2007 could in three cities, Bansko, Krichim and the second largest Bulgarian city of Plovdiv win.

The VMRO- BND presented alone 5 MP, but resigned in the course of the legislature out of the electoral alliance BNS and allied with other Members other Parties Parliamentary Group Napred ( = forward ).

At the European and parliamentary elections on June 7, 2009, VMRO- BND participated as part of the coalition Napred. They could not achieve any success and not cope with the entry into the Bulgarian Parliament.
