Inga skutchii

Inga skutchii is a tree species of the subfamily of the mimosa family ( Mimosoideae ). It is native to Costa Rica.

Description

Inga skutchii is up to 9 meters tall with dense fluffy rusty hairy branches. The leaves are six to eight times pinnate pairs, the leaflets are ovate to elliptic, 4-7 cm long and 1-2 inches wide.

The Blattrhachis is cylindrical in cross section. The side leaves are up to 2 mm long and redundant.

The inflorescences are spikes. The shaft is 3 to 4 inches long, the rachis 5-7 inches long. The flowers are 15 to 18 millimeters long and white. The fruits are flat, 13 inches long and 2.3 inches wide.

Dissemination

Inga skutchii is native on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica.

Systematics and Botanical History

The species was first described in 1943 by Paul Carpenter Standley.
