İnönü, Eskişehir

İnönü is a town and a district of the Turkish province of Eskişehir. The city is located about 30 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Eskişehir.

The district is located in the west of the province. It is bordered on the east by Tepebaşı, to the south by the province of Kütahya and on the west by the province of Bilecik. Through the circle runs from north to south, the highway D -650, which further leads to Antalya on the Mediterranean coast of Adapazarı in the north to Afyonkarahisar in the south. In the south of the district extends the level Inonu Ovasi, there are the reservoir Kuzfındık Baraj Gölü and further north, two smaller lakes, both named Dutluca Göleti.

History

In January and March / April 1921 here two battles in the Turkish Liberation War took place, in which Mustafa İsmet was scored decisive victories. As a reminder that he participated in 1934 after the family name law 's surname İnönü.
