Insha'Allah

Inshallah (Arabic: إن شاء الله in schā'a llāh, DMG in Sa ʾ a llāh, God willing ') is a frequently used phrase in the Arabic language with the core meaning " hope ." It can be interpreted as a fatalistic attitude, but is often only an expression of attitude of humility as it is expressed in monotheistic religions: "Without God's will, man can do nothing " (Compare the Christian parallel " sub conditione Jacobi ," dt "So God will, we shall live "). In practice, the phrase is also often used to avoid a clear statement and only to indicate the message between the lines.

The origin of the formulation is in the Quran:

" And say not so with regard to something ( what you're doing ): " I will do this tomorrow, " ( add ) without: ' if God wills '! And remember your Lord when you forget (or have forgotten ), ( this is to add? ), And say, ' me Maybe my Lord will (in the future ) lead to something that is more accurate than (ie than my previous action ) ' "

The German phrase " God willing " corresponds exactly according to the literal meaning of the Arabic Inshallah.

In the Spanish and Portuguese word for hope ( Ojalá or oxalá ) are borrowings, which go back to the Arabic expression Inshallah.
