L'Institut français des relations international (abbreviated " IFRI ," French Institute for International Relations) is the largest French independent discussion and research for foreign policy and international issues.

2011 IFRI was honored for the fourth consecutive year, the only French research institute, which is classified among the top fifty worldwide (except USA) influential think - tanks, and as the third in the whole of Europe, according to the latest "Global Go-To Think Tanks " - study by the University of Pennsylvania, which deals with 6,480 residents in 169 countries institutions.

IFRI is independent of state control and is attached to no political party. History

In 1973, Thierry de Montbrial by the French Foreign Minister Michel Jobert charged with the Quai d' Orsay, the Centre d'analyze et de prévision (abbreviated "CAP ", forecasting and analysis center ) to set up to promote the analysis of international relations. This experience strengthened his desire to develop an independent research center to do so. IFRI was founded in 1979 by Thierry de Montbrial with the help of the then Prime Minister Raymond Barre and the Foreign Minister Louis de Guiringaud and Jean François -Poncet. Marc Gilbert, a former producer for the former French public broadcaster ORTF, was appointed as Secretary General. Partnerships and broadcast abroad

IFRI is striving to be the main French Institute in Europe. The European dimension is thus the center of every activity of the institute. IFRI is represented by that established in March 2005 the Office " IFRI Brussels " in Brussels, which is considered an active interface between Paris and Brussels. Tasks

Publications

The quarterly publication Politique étrangère and the collective once annually published work Ramsès are the two main publishing activities Ifris. Since 1981, the annual report Ramsès (circulation: 10,000 copies) is devoted to the major global trends. The Politique founded in 1936 étrangère that offers a thematic presentation of international news, is the oldest magazine of this specialty in France. A special edition was released in 2006 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the magazine.
