Institutional Renewal Party of National Action

The Partido Acción Nacional Renovador Institucional (Spanish National Institutional Renewal Party action PRIAN ) is a conservative- populist party in Ecuador. Its founder and well-known representative is the entrepreneur Álvaro Noboa, who is regarded as the richest man in Ecuador. Chairman of the Party 's Vicente Taiano, in the 2006 elections vice presidential candidate Noboas.

The party was, after Noboa, who was inferior to the Christian Jamil Mahuad in the presidential election in 1998 as the candidate of the populist Partido Roldosista Ecuatoriano ( PRE) in the runoff, fell out with the founders and leaders of the PRE, Abdala Bucaram and founded his own party. It was officially founded in April 2002 and entered in October of the same year with the presidential and parliamentary elections. Noboa reached as the leading candidate in the first ballot with 17.4 % of the vote the second best result and defeated in the second round with 46% of Lucio Gutiérrez. In the parliamentary elections, the party immediately secured 10 seats and became the fourth largest party in the National Congress. After the 2004 regional elections, the party Prefect of the province of Imbabura and the mayors of 19 of the 219 Canton main cities of the country, including Latacunga, capital of the Cotopaxi Province.

In the presidential election of 2006 Noboa went to again and reached on the first ballot surprising 26.8 % of the vote, the best result of all candidates. In the second round he was defeated, however, for the third time, this time the leftist Rafael Correa.

At the beginning of the legislative period 2007-2011 the PRIAN presented at the National Congress with 28 MPs of the largest MEPs block and Jorge Cevallos also the President of Parliament. Overall, the party received about 24.4 percent of the votes in the presidential elections, held in parallel to the 2006 parliamentary elections. In the most populous provinces in the coastal region, Manabí and Guayas, it reached 34.3 and 33.7 percent, and was the strongest party; in the most populous province of the Andean region, the data demonstrated a 20.2 percent second place. Overall, the PRIAN was in five of the 22 provinces ( Guayas, Manabí, Carchi, Imbabura and Esmeraldas ) strongest party. The elected members Annabella Azin, Wife Álvaro Noboas, received the nation's most personal votes in the province of Guayas.
