Intef II

Antef II, also Anjotef, Initef or Intef, is the proper name of the 2nd ancient Egyptian King ( Pharaoh ) of the 11th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ) what BC reigned in Upper Egypt about 2121 to 2072.

Government

Antef II reigned for nearly 50 years. Most of the time he was with the Lower Egyptian kings in battle. At the beginning of his reign, he was ruler of the Upper Egyptian nomes 1 to 6 and the city of Abydos. Twice he had to Thinis conquer, to the capital of the eighth nome of Upper Egypt was one final to its sphere of influence. So it has been able to extend his domain to Qaw el- Kebir, about 100 km north of Abydos located.

Buildings

One found in the temple of Karnak in Luxor octagonal column with the mention of the name Antef Wah -ankh and the god Amun -Re suggests that Antef II has already built a temple here. It is the earliest structural evidence in Karnak.

Grave

He put his grave to - Saff (row grave ) in at- tariff. It is known under the name Saff el- Kisasija United grave.

From Antef II Wah -ankh two stelae come from his tomb in at-Tarif/Korna. It is interesting that the Papyrus Abbot II 8, the inspection of the tombs under Ramses IX. (late 20th Dynasty ) to the contents, has mentioned the dog Behek on one of the pillars. She was probably buried so that it did not recognize the existing and remaining four dogs.
