International Relations and Security Network

The International Relations and Security Network ( ISN) is a freely accessible online information service for international relations and security policy. The ISN is operated by the Center for Security Studies (CSS ) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ( ETH) in Zurich.

Overview

The network was founded in 1994 distributed, managed and produced web- based content with a focus on international relations and security policy and promotes cooperation between institutions that conduct research and work in these areas. ISN is financed by the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport ( DDPS) and ETH Zurich.

Activities

  • Digital Library: A core service of the ISN is the digital library that includes more than 60,000 publications, and other multimedia resources in the field of international relations, security and defense policy, development policy and international political economy. The library contains, among other books in full text working papers, government reports, journal articles, policy brief analyzes, blog posts, presentations, and audio and video resources of over 250 partner institutions. The library also contains a directory of over 3000 think tanks, universities and research institutes, NGOs and other institutions that are active in the field of international relations and security policy.
  • ISN dossiers and Features: Together with partner institutions and international experts published the ISN every week a multimedia file to security policy - relevant issues. In addition, every day, new analyzes and blog articles as well as regelmäßsige audio and video features on the website.
  • Partner organizations and communities: The ISN maintains an international network of over 250 partner institutions in 50 countries. The network is made up of university and research institutes, think tanks, international ( non-) governmental organizations and governmental entities.
  • Online and Mobile Learning: With his work in the field of e -learning the ISN supports the Swiss contribution to the NATO initiative " Partnership for Peace " as well as the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative. The ISN advises on e -learning and conduct its own research and development with a focus on smartphones and tablet computers. The ISN also runs a freely accessible learning platform with more than 80 courses on security related topics.
