Iolaus

Iolaus (Greek Ἰόλαος ) In Greek mythology, the son of Iphicles and nephew of Heracles. In some versions he is his younger brother. He is a Fellow and charioteer of Heracles. He participated in the Calydonian hunt some of the wild boar and the Argonauts. He helped Heracles in several of his twelve labors.

He won his charioteer the Olympics and was after Heracles death, to whose memory he erected a grave mound, the protector and adviser of his children. In their defense against Eurystheus he fell.

In his honor were celebrated in Thebes Iolaeia with victims and horse racing.
