Iota Orionis

Nair Al Saif is the proper name of the star ι Orionis ( Iota Orionis, Arabic نير السيف, DMG Nair as- Saif, The Light in the Sword ' ). The star is just south of the Orion Nebula (M42 ) and is a separable even in small telescopes binary star consisting of a 2.77 like bright star of spectral O9III and a 6.9 likes bright companion of spectral type B7. The companion is located at an angular distance of 11.3 " at a position angle of 141 degrees with respect to the main star. Nair Al Saif is about 1325 light years from Earth ( Hipparcos database).

In the eight- inch model is still a third faint star seen in about 50 " distance.
