Iryna Yatchenko

Iryna Jattschanka (White Russian Ірына Ятчанка, English transcription Iryna Yatchanka, also Russian Ирина Ятченко - Irina Jattschenko - Irina Yatchenko, . Born October 31, 1965 in Gomel ) is a Belarusian former discus thrower.

At the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo and at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, she was seventh, respectively.

This was followed by a ninth place finish at the World Championships in Gothenburg, a twelfth at the 1996 Olympics in Barcelona, a fifth at the World Championships in Athens and a ninth at the 1999 World Championships in Seville.

At the games in Sydney in 2000 she won the bronze medal with a distance of 65.20 m. In fact folgenen year they finished ninth at the World Championships in Edmonton.

In 2003, she had her biggest success as she won the gold medal at the World Championships with 67.32 m. She was at the time 37 years, the oldest title holder at World Athletics Championships. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she came up with 66.17 m again on the bronze medal, but was it denied on December 5, 2012 due to doping with anabolic steroids, after the IOC again let doping samples from Athens with improved methods to test. In the same year she had achieved on 31 July in Minsk with 69.14 m personal best.

At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 and at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, they were each tenth, at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Eleventh.

Iryna Jattschanka is 1,85 m tall and weighs 100 kg. She is married to the hammer thrower Ihar Astapkowitsch.
