Isaac Newton Evans

Isaac Newton Evans ( * July 29th, 1827 at West Chester, Pennsylvania, † December 3, 1901 in Hatboro, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1877 and 1887 he represented two times the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Isaac Evans attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent medical studies at Bowdoin College, and at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and his 1852 was admitted as a doctor, he began to practice in this profession in Johnsville. In 1856 he moved his residence and his medical practice after Hatboro. He was also president of the Hatboro National Bank. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1876 Evans was in the seventh election district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Alan Wood on March 4, 1877. Since he resigned in 1878 to run again, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1879. For the 1882 elections, he was re-elected in the seventh district of his state in Congress, where he was in 1883 Successor of William Godshalk on March 4. By March 3, 1885 Evans completed a further term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1884, he did not stand for re-election.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Evans again working as a doctor and in the banking industry. He was also active in the real estate market. He died on 3 December 1901 in Hatboro.
