Isabella Teotochi Albrizzi

Isabella Countess Albrizzi - Teotochi ( born November 28, 1763 Corfu, † September 27, 1836 in Venice) was a Venetian Salonnière and writer.

Life

Elisabetta Teotochi came from a noble family of Corfu. She came in 1779 as the wife of Venetian patrician Karl Anton Marin to Venice. After the death of her husband she married the Inquisitor Count Giuseppe Albrizzi. In her house were guests among other Ippolito Pindemonte, Antonio Canova, Ugo Foscolo, Angelo Quirini, Dominique Vivant Denon, George Gordon Byron, Melchiore Cesarotti, Vittorio Alfieri, Lazzaro Spallanzani, Anne Louise Germaine de Staël and Alexander von Humboldt. In her work " Ritratti " (1807 ) it has character sketches of many of these personalities.
