Isis (Band)

Isis was an American post-metal band. It was founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1997 and was later in Los Angeles, California, resident. In June 2010, they disbanded after notice.

Style

Isis is often mentioned in the same breath as bands like Neurosis or Pelican because of their style mix. Their epic songs are rarely shorter than six minutes and consist principally elements of doom metal, post rock and sludge. Therefore, the band is often classified into the still young and controversial genre of post-metal, in which she plays a leading role. Early in her career, she played a mixture of brute hardcore and doom metal bonds and was regarded as one of many mediocre Neurosis copies. Throughout its development, however, she moved over the her pinned Sludge genre addition, since they started from Oceanic to embed dynamic interplay from the post - rock genre (eg Mogwai ) in their songs to make this little melody accentuated and the songs to pass through a prolonged development more room for development. The following album Panopticon spun the thread of this development further, in addition began Turner often clean to sing instead in the conventional way to use growls. The songs are even more marked quiet - loud by the contrast for the most part. The album In the Absence of Truth is markedly influenced by Isis ' tour of America as a support tool in 2006, as it clearly failed technical and complex than previously published material.
