Islamic Unity of Afghanistan Mujahideen

The Peshawar Seven or Seven - Party Alliance or Alliance of Seven or Islamic Union of Afghan mujahideen was an alliance founded in the first half of the 1980s of seven Sunni Islamic groups, the main resistance groups in Afghanistan during the Soviet- Afghan war. Summarized in this alliance were the Sunni mujahideen parties that had their centers in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

" During the war against the Soviet Union channeling external support through Pakistan to only seven Sunni Islamist groups led ( the so-called Peschewar - seven ) to the fact that this took a key role in the armed struggle. "

The alliance consisted of four fundamentalist parties, as their principal aim the establishment of an Islamic state in Afghanistan (al- al - Islamiyah Dawlah ) announced without the clerical rule as in the neighboring country of Iran. The other three groups were traditionalists. They advocated the return of Afghanistan to the pre-revolutionary forms of government.
