Ismail Ertug

Ismail Ertug ( born December 5, 1975 in Amberg ) is a German politician.

Ismail Ertug ( born December 5, 1975 in Amberg ) is a German politician ( SPD). Ertug was from 2004-2009 a member of the city council Amberger. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Parliament. For the upcoming European elections on May 25, 2014 Ismail Ertug is back as the Upper Palatinate the SPD's candidate for election.

Life

Ismail Ertug was born in 1975 in Amberg, three years after his parents had left the Turkish homeland. After he had finished his training as an industrial clerk, Ertug worked as a corporate consultant for the AOK Amberg. After completing his studies in health insurance business studies, he worked in the field of strategic marketing consultancy in the AOK Bavaria headquarters in Nuremberg.

Ertug is married and lives in Kummersbruck. He has a daughter (* 2012).

Political career

SPD candidate and Young Socialists (1999-2004)

Ertugs political career began with his membership of the SPD and the Young Socialists in 1999. From 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2009, he was a member of the city council Amberger.

Member of the European Parliament (since 2009)

Since July 2009 Ertug is a member of the European Parliament for the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria. In the European Parliament is Ertug member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and substitute member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. In addition, he serves as a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU -Turkey and substitute member of the Delegation for the EU-Israel relations.

Ertug became famous in Europe notoriety particularly as co- rapporteur of the European Parliament for the regulation of the trans-European transport networks ( TEN-T). In addition to the legislative work of the committees and working in delegations Ertug is a dedicated member of the "Friends of Turkey". Friends of Turkey is an informal association of 77 MEPs from all political groups who want to promote through information sessions and exchange the European integration of Turkey and the EU-Turkey relations.
