Istočni Mostar ( Serbian Cyrillic Источни Мостар ), previously Srpski Mostar ( Српски Мостар ) is a Opština ( municipality ) in the southern part of the Republika Srpska in Herzegovina. The community was created by separating the east of the mountain range Velež lying districts of Mostar as a result of the Dayton Agreement in 1995.

The name means translated into German " East Mostar ", but is not to be confused with the district of East Mostar in Mostar itself. The name Srpski Mostar ( Mostar Serbian ), which the community had until 2004, was banned by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina because of the ethnic cover.

Geography and infrastructure

The district Zijemlje is located 17 kilometers northeast of the town center of Mostar in Vilino polje, but is separated from the city by the nearly 2000 m high mountain Velež and not accessible by paved roads.

A school is not in the church; the children attend school in Nevesinje 30 kilometers away.

Population

In 1991, the district Zijemlje 153 inhabitants, of whom identified themselves as Serbs then 95 and 57 as Bosniaks.

In the council sit for the municipal elections of October 7, 2012 seven representatives of the SDS, three of the DP and a representative of the SDA.
