Art and meaning

Ivana Kobilca is the most important Slovenian painter. Rated according to their social background, their life, their ideals and their way she was an urban artist. She was one of the Slovene realist, who created their most important paintings in the eighties of the 19th century. Kobilicas greatest tribute to the Slovenian artist paid tribute to them in the time in which she lived abroad. They had the greatest significance for the painting of people, mainly of portraits and the typical life of people, both urban and rural. In the time they spent in Berlin, floral still lifes were their main genre. The main colors of her early works are dark, only the pastel colors are brighter. Later, in 1889, her paintings were bright and were typical of the Paris this time blue shades. In her last years she painted mainly portraits of prominent persons.
