Ivy Compton-Burnett

Ivy Compton - Burnett ( born June 5, 1884 in Middlesex, † August 27 1969 in London) was an English writer.

Life and work

Compton Burnet is a representative of the English narrative literature of modernity. She wrote novels, which consist primarily of stylized dialogues. Most are family conflicts in the foreground. Their major works include Men and Wives ( 1931), A Family and a Fortune (1939) and Parents and Children ( 1941).

Peter Marginter translated four novels of Ivy Compton - Burnett into German: A God and his gifts (1989 ), parents and children ( 1990), High and Holy ( 1991) and Diener and Served (1992).
