Jaarsveld

Jaarsveld describes a formerly independent municipality of the Dutch province of Utrecht and the former hoge en vrije Heerlijkheid Jaarsveld.

Chronicle

The former parish and village today Jaarsveld has arisen from the glory of the same name. The glory Jaarsveld ( with willing Langerak ) were originally owned by Messrs. Utes Goye. They and their successors bore the title of army or Vrijheer van Jaarsveld. In 1327 Jaarsveld went with the manor in castle Veldenstein with the High jurisdiction of the County of Holland, meanwhile willing Langerak remained a fief of Utrecht. In the 15th century, Mr van Arkel were in possession of Jaarsveld. About their successors, the Lords of Vianen reached the glory of the house of Egmond and in 1518 by the marriage of Anna of Egmond- Buren with William I of Orange -Nassau to the House of Orange. In 1608 sold Philipp William of Orange -Nassau Jaarsveld at the Amsterdam merchant Johan van Michielsz Verlaer. And the glory of Holland and Utrecht was committed, she brought Simon van elders in 1640 against the protests of Utrecht finally under the suzerainty of Holland. In 1673, the Veldenstein Castle was devastated by French troops. Afterwards Mr Van Voorst was the owner at that time, and the De Voorst tot Graeff, the small country house Huis te Jaarsveld built. Between the years 1937-1970 a professional mini-golf tournament in Middengolfzender Jaarsveld was held in Jaarsveld. In 2001, the village of 248 inhabitants Jaarsveld and 83 houses on an area of 0.07 km ². With marks on the edge of settlements Jaarsveld comes to about 330 residents.

Reformed Church Jaarsveld

The foundation of the church is based in the 14th century, which today still stirs the nave. The current appearance with the robust gates and choir dates from around 1500. The interior includes the tombs of the 15th Century, stained-glass windows from the same period as well as an organ of the year. In 2001 the Reformed congregation Jaarsveld had launched a ten -year renovation of their church.
