Jacovce
Jacovce ( Jatzowitz German, Hungarian JAC) is a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1768 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Topoľčany, a circle of Nitriansky kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located in the northern Danube hills (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ) on the stream Chotina, a tributary of Nitra. The center is located at an altitude of 193 m nm and is located six kilometers north-west of Topoľčany.
History
Today's church was built in 1903 by the merger of places Malé Jacovce ( German Kleinjatzowitz ), Veľké Jacovce ( German Großjatzowitz ) and Zemianske Jacovce ( German Nemeschjatzowitz ). The first written record comes from the year 1224.
1944-1949 was Jacovce part of the neighboring municipality Tovarníky 1976-1990 and part of the city Topoľčany.
