James Soloman Biery

James Soloman Biery (* March 2, 1839 in Emlenton, Venango County, Pennsylvania, † December 3, 1904 in Allentown, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Biery attended the common schools and worked for three years in the oil region of Pennsylvania as a teacher. In 1861 he moved to Allentown, where he was employed for eight years as a teacher. He then studied theology; whether he was working as a theologian, is not known. After a subsequent law degree in 1868 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to practice in this profession in Allentown. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1869 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1872 Biery was in the sixth constituency of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Ephraim Leister Acker on March 4, 1873. Since he resigned in 1874 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1875.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, James Biery operated again as a lawyer. He also dealt with literary matters. He died on December 3, 1904 in Allentown, where he was also buried.
